Colin Stanwell-Smith
Director and Chairman
Colin is a chartered Engineer and award winning designer. After years of working as a technical consultant designing successful products for other companies in the UK and Europe, Colin decided to become a manufacturer and chose the floatation tank as an ethical life enhancing and challenging project. Colin designed the Floataway floatation tank from the ground up. Colin is responsible for all technical and commercial aspects of the business. He also does some of the installation work. Colin's objective is to continually improve the most beautiful float tank in the world.
Gini Stanwell-Smith
Managing Director
Gini, originally from New York, has a commercial background and ran a language school in Brussels for 20 years.
Gini handles sales, administration and accounting in addition to helping Colin do installations. She enjoys meeting new people and the travelling involved with the business. Gini speaks fluent French, decent Dutch and is currently learning Spanish.
Toby Stanwell-Smith
Designer & Production Manager
Toby graduated in 2002 from Brunel University with 1st class Honours and won the prestigious Runnymede Prize for design excellence. He joined the Floataway team in September of the same year as a designer. Toby is responsible for new product development, manages our production and handles graphic and web design.
Miranda Brabun
Sales Executive
Miranda joined the Floataway team in January 2007 as Administrative Assistant. In May 2007, due to the increasing number of sales enquires, Floataway created a dedicated Sales Department and Miranda was promoted to Sales Executive. Miranda handles tank sale enquiries and ensure a smooth transition through to tank installation.
Denise Richardson
Administrative Assistant
Denise joined the Floataway team in February 2008, replacing Helen who has left the rain of the UK for warmer climates. Denise handles everything from the telephone, shipping and filing through to invoicing and bookkeeping, generally keeps everything running smoothly!
Malcolm Sturmann
GRP Technician
Malcolm is our own GRP expert. He joined the Floataway team in 2004. Before working for Floataway, Malcolm used to make the GRP tools and parts for Lotus sports cars and the Lotus racing team. Thanks to his expertise and many years of experience, he produces many of our beautiful and highly polished GRP parts.
Steve Scase
GRP Technician
Steve is also a GRP expert. He joined the Floataway team in 2006. Steve has had extensive GRP experience, building everything from sports cars to wind turbines. Thanks to his expertise and many years of experience, he produces many of our beautiful and highly polished GRP parts.
Mark Howard-King
GRP Polisher, Quality Control
Mark's job is to make things shine! Joining the Floataway team in 2006. His keen eye for detail and many years of experience as a quality control inspector for Lotus, makes him a true asset to the team. He insures our products are as beautiful and highly polished as they were designed to be.
Ian Taylor
Technician
Ian joined our team in March 2008, he is responsible for fitting out our float tanks, installations and making sure our products get to their destinations in perfect condition.
Ian was trained in the Royal Engineers, he served in many parts of the world and now we have the benefit of that experience and training. Although our newest member, he has quickly become an integral part of our team.
