Floataway Intercom
With this option we provide a tank microphone, connected by air tube, and a remote telephone style handset. The operator can turn on the intercom (normally left off) and listen to the floater and/or tank noises. By pressing a press-to-talk button, the operator can speak to the floater. This is useful in many cases but not recommended in a busy multi-tank centre.

Floataway Colour Therapy
Colour therapy is an exciting new development for float tanks, we have already supplied several systems and the results are fascinating. The water acts as a light guide and we inject the coloured light underwater, not directly into the eyes, so the floater's skin is bathed, quite literally, in light. The therapist or operator chooses the colour which is to be used. The colour can also be changed at any time by remote control.
Please note this can only be retrofitted with the water removed from the tank.

Floataway Automatic Liquid Chemical Doser
All float tanks require a disinfection chemical system. Chlorine and peroxide systems can be dosed using an automatic pump which is run every time the circulation (filter) pump runs. We provide a 1.5 litre bottle with filler cap which usually is placed in the back panel, but can be placed in a technical space in the room. The time is adjustable in seconds, following daily checks with a test kit or test strips. Please note that because of the salt in solution, automatic redox systems cannot be used. However, we find that after a short time experiencing the use of disinfectant and monitoring, the time can be left without adjustment for long periods.
With peroxide, little or no water chemistry or maintenance is required. With liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) the system must be rinsed with water every month.

Floataway Tablet Brominator
A brominator is quite different from a liquid chemical doser, and can also be supplied, this fits in the water line of the circulation pump, using solid tablets which release bromine.

Floataway UV Filter
We design and make our own ultra violet (UV) light filter. UV light has the property of killing pathogens and breaking down fats. However, UV cannot be used on its own because it can only sample the water and has no residual effect, so it must be used with hydrogen peroxide. This is a very good combination because the UV light increases the effect of the peroxide, therefore requiring less peroxide to be used. However we have found that peroxide alone is also effective. UV should not be used with chlorine because it recombines the chlorine ions making them ineffective. The UV filter is designed to fit within the footprint of the tank. The UV tube should be replaced every two years, this is easy to do with tools supplied. Spare tubes can be purchased from Floataway or from specialist lighting suppliers.

Floataway Mute Button
An extra air send button is added in the tank enabling the floater to interrupt and restart the music at any time during the float session. It automatically resets to 'on' during the pump cycle so that it is ready for the next floater. It is also possible to turn it on remotely if an intercom is fitted.

Floataway Digital Float Session Timer
We can fit in the factory, or supply as a retrofit package, a timer which can be programmed to a "minutes and seconds" time after which it will automatically end the float session. In our Tranquility tank this opens the door, in the other tanks it rings a "Bing Bong" sounder. The timer can be seen to count down in seconds so that the operator can check progress. A separate button on the timer can be used to start the time. It is also possible to reset the timer (at the remote control) without ending the session if the operator wishes to do so. Floataway Flat screen video
It must be said we do not recommend video in the float tank. After years of experience, we can assert with confidence that the experience of deep relaxation is best achieved with the eyes shut or at least not stimulated by images. Accelerated learning by audio is a different matter and when video is required we suggest a separate room to be used after floating because the wonderful float state is maintained for hours, even days after the session. However we do have customers who insist on video and we can supply flat screen systems with DVD players as a special option. This is an expensive option because we have to start with a standard tank and modify it, and we give our normal warranty on the product. Floataway Room Light Control
It is possible to turn the float room lighting on and off with the tank internal lights. To do this we supply a relay which is controlled by our light circuit. The relay has volt free contacts at 8 amps for a separate lighting circuit. This must be connected by a qualified electrician. It is better to order this option when ordering the tank as retro-fitting it means adding cables to a finished room which can be unsightly. If for some reason more power is required (for example for running a noisy fan, florescent lights, an air-conditioner or a ventilator), the relay can be used to control a contactor which your electrician will be able to supply.

Floataway Water Automation
We offer a simple solution to automatic water level maintenance. A specially designed stand and water bottle are placed beside the tank, connected by a tube. The water level can be precisely adjusted to optimise surface skimming. The bottle should last at least one week and can be refilled, preferably with filtered water.
Our system is easy to use and easy to clean. It requires no drain. It is very easy to see when the bottle needs refilling.

Floataway Automatic Music Module
We provide a 12 volt CD player in a waterproof housing with waterproof cover. This is arranged to play the same CD every time the float cycle starts. To change the CD, the cover must be removed and replaced. The unit can be added to the back panel or put into a separate box if required.

Floataway Reverse Osmosis Unit
Reverse Osmosis is quite established now but only recently have units become available working just from the water pressure in the tap, no pump is required. In osmosis, water crosses a semi-permeable barrier into a more concentrated solution. Considerable pressure is generated. To reverse the flow an even higher pressure is applied on the ³contaminated² side of the membrane and pure water is delivered. These new reverse osmosis filters deliver pure water free of salts, and they are fitted directly to the main water supply, (not to the tank). The water is fit for drinking of course, but also suitable for refilling the float tank with no risk of metals or calcium deposits. They are quite small and will fit on or under a small sink. These are not filtered by cartridges, sand or absorbent particles, they have a modern semi-permeable membrane producing pure water. Mechanical filters will not remove metals in solution. We recommend reverse osmosis in both hard and soft water areas for providing fresh water if any problem persists with colouration of the solution. This is almost always due to either manganese or iron or both in the water, and occasionally copper from pipework.

Floataway Sound Sources
There are many possible sound sources including radio, CD, MP3, tape, or even vinyl! The most common is a CD player at present but we expect this to move over to MP3 players. Generally we do not provide the sound source because of the variety available and the low cost of local supply in High Street shops. The amplifier power should be 5 to 7 watts, not more, and not just a portable type (such as a Walkman) because these do not put out enough power. On no account use a PA line type system because these operate at 100 volts. It is possible to transform this for our 8 ohm underwater speakers but you will need technical advice and approved equipment to do this. We can supply a suitable CD player if required.
A recent development is the use of waterproof headphones and a waterproof MP3 or iPod player. These can be used successfully in the float tank and the ones we have tried and tested work really well. We can also supply this equipment if required. (Image for illustration proposes only)

Retro Fitting our upgrade options.
The ease of retro-fitting varies and in some cases requires connections to be made inside the control box, or a hole to be drilled in the tub. We do supply full instructions but sometimes a skilled technician will be necessary. The ease of access also varies because some rooms are very small, so it is impossible to generalise the fitting cost. This must be investigated case by case. |
